Nita Jo Mundie will be forever remembered as a loving mother and Nanny. The longtime Irving resident died in Plano on December 17, 2015 at age 84. She was born on July 31, 1931 to Lois and Cordie (Spradley) Hinsley in Prosper, Texas. Nita worked as a bookkeeper in the accounting industry but her family was truly her whole world. She loved Elvis and was a member of the local Elvis Fan Club and enjoyed helping the seniors with Bingo at the Elks Lodge, which she did for many years. Nita is preceded in death by her parents, beloved son Walter George Metker, Jr., husband James L. Mundie and her brother Tommy Hinsley. Left to fondly cherish her memory are her daughter Loyce Martin of Carrollton; grandsons Aaron Martin and wife Christina of League City, TX and Chris Metker and wife Erica of Lebanon, TX; granddaughter Heather Wallace of Lewisville; great grandchildren Joshua, Josiah, Jeremiah, Myca, Abry and Jude along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 21, 2015 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with interment immediately following at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and request memorial donations in Nita’s honor be made to the charity of your choice.
