William “Bill” Richard Rogers, owner of Rogers Upholstery in Irving, died on December 19, 2015 in Pilot Point, Texas at age 89. His life’s journey began in Gibsland, Louisiana on November 4, 1926 where he was born to Andrew Jackson and Alma (Poteet) Rogers. Bill proudly served his country during World War II as a Steward’s Mate 2nd Class in the Merchant Marines before making a name for himself in Irving by owning and operating Rogers Upholstery. He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Margene Rogers in 2009. Left to cherish his memory are sons Richard Rogers of Azle, Jack Rogers of Blanco and John Rogers of Euless; daughters Sandra Keas of Denton and Susan Bell of LaRue, Texas; brother Jerry Rogers of Louisiana along with eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Irving with 1:00 PM interment including Military Honors to follow at Restland Memorial Park located at 9220 Restland Road in Dallas. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home just prior to the service.
