Bruce Buchanan, Bedford resident formerly of Irving, died on December 8, 2015 in Grapevine at the age of 59. He was born in Dallas, Texas on October 30, 1956 to Jack and Betty (Bryant) Buchanan and was a 1975 graduate of Irving High School. Bruce worked for David McDavid Honda for six years and had a great comedic personality. Along with being a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother and son, he will be remembered as a good storyteller who loved to make people laugh. Bruce also loved motorcycles, cars, John Wayne films, golf, darts and shooting pool. He fought a brave hard battle with Leukemia and has now rejoined in eternity with his grandparents, Virgil and Lucile Bryant, Lucille and George Clark Buchanan and nephew Drake Buchanan. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 36 years Ilse Buchanan of Bedford; daughter Erika Simmons and husband Lonnie of San Antonio; son Nickolas Buchanan and fiancé Jennifer Hester of Euless; daughter Kristina Buchanan of Austin; parents Jack and Betty Buchanan of Irving; brother Brad Buchanan of Irving and niece Taryn Buchanan of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren Alexis Simmons, Lonnie Simmons Jr., Gavin Buchanan and Ava Buchanan along with numerous friends. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Irving with visitation from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM just prior to the service. Bruce will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving.
