Naomi Maxwell was born Naomi Esther Henson in Francis, Oklahoma on December 6, 1922, to William Andrew Henson and Mary Belle Sutherland Henson; she passed after living a long happy life of 92 years, on Saturday December 5, 2015. She was born the youngest of nine children, and spent her earliest years on the family farm. Naomi attended the Francis School, and after high school graduation, she began her college education at East Central State College in Ada, Oklahoma, where she met “Max” Maxwell, who would become her husband. As World War II started, Naomi and Max married in Uvalde, Texas. Soon after Max had joined the United States Army, he was shipped overseas to serve his country; during this time Naomi gave birth to their first child, Sandra. When the family reunited after the war, they moved to New Mexico where their daughter Susan and son Paul were born. The family lived in several states before landing in Falls Church, Virginia, where Naomi’s interest in antiques began. After Max retired from the Federal Aviation Administration, they moved to Denton, Texas, where Naomi turned her antiquing hobby, into a business. In 2001, Max died, and Naomi moved to Irving, Texas where she spent her last years at Ashford Hall Nursing Home. Left to cherish her memory are three children, Sandra, Susan and Paul; Three grandchildren, Clint Gage, Amy Slagle and Blake Maxwell; five great-grandchildren, Ashley Slagle, Tyler Gage, Kymbre Slagle, Collin Gage and Connor Alton. She was fortunate to meet her good friend Jarrell Barnet, while living in Ashford Hall, and spent many hours talking about old times.
